CS-R700 L-Pads?

I have a very nice pair of Pioneer CS-R700 speakers. The only issue is the sound cuts in and out when adjusting the d**n L-Pads! I have tried to get some Deoxit into them but it is difficult as it appears the only opening(s) is at the connections. Pretty tight quarters on the crossover assembly. I am tempted to just replace them with new L-Pads? Any idea what would be the proper replacements and where I might be able to get them?

Thanks!

I've had success spraying (with the available red tube) in and around the L-pad itself It may take a few attempts and LOTS of movement back and forth..

Just aim it into the space between the pad and speaker, Great under appreciated speaker IMHO

Thanks for the tip kydog, I will keep trying!

I have a pair each of the CS-R300s, CS-R500s and the CS-R700s.  The CS-R700s are definitely quot;strongquot; performers.  The CS-R series was the first series of speakers from Pioneer that were designed primarily for the American market.  They were also the transition from the traditional Japanese design speaker to the HPM series.

The CS-R700 was positioned to compete with the JBL L-100.  It did well, but then Pioneer really got serious and hired Bart Locanthi to assist with the design and marketing of the HPM-100.  The R-700 is stout with the horn drivers and is a good quot;Rock'n Rollquot; speaker.

IMHO, the CS-R500 is actually a more balanced performer and I prefer the sound of the R500, but that's just my personal preference.  When I have the R-700s out, I let them rock'n roll as well!

Thanks for the history and informatiom 70salesguy, great info.!

Hey kydog, thanks for the encouragement and the motivation to get off my quot;buttquot; and remove the circuit boards from the terminal plate. I was able to access the openings of the L-pads to get them hosed down properly. After spinning the crap out of them, they work as good as new! What a great sounding speaker! They do Rock-N-Roll very well as mentioned and are certainly not subtle. Put on some Peter Green and Nigel Watson doing great justice to Robert Johnson blues! Sound was punchy, accurate and alive. Currently have it hooked up to a Marantz 2275 which seems to be a good combo. I will probably try them with my tube rig tomorrow as a comparason. Just may mellow them out a bit? A very fun speaker to play with!

I particularly enjoy letting the R-700s quot;strut their stuffquot; with the Doobie Brothers Toulouse Street album.

Awesome!

Great The CS R700 like to be pushed and in return will deliver some nice music to your surroundings .. I've had Yamaha CR 1020,CR 840 and the Pioneer SX D7000 playing through them with great results. Tube gear should be a nice match, ENJOY
